Day 39 – Not quite under a bushel

Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. ~ 1 Timothy 4:15
I’m not always sure how to do this. It’s been my way to do things in the background and to silently plug along until progress is made. I don’t necessarily need for people to see how well I’m doing, whether that is because I don’t want people to see me fail or not remains to be seen. The thing is, I am not a showy person and I don’t like to call attention to anything that I do; failure or success.
This can become a hindrance to me at times, but over the past few years, I have gotten better at talking about the things I do right. There are a few of these. I have my fair share of shortcomings, but there are things I know I absolutely get right even if others out there can’t see them. I need to learn how to continue on the path without being deterred by negative people and their inability to understand what I am trying to do. Not everyone will get it. And that’s okay. God has put me on a mission to help get the word out and He has given me a vehicle for doing so. It doesn’t make sense to everyone, but to those whom I’m supposed to help speak, it makes perfect sense. And that’s all that matters.

My name is Rebecca Benston. I’m a Christian. I’m a woman. I’m a mother. I’m a writer. I’m a thinker. When I write fiction, I am usually writing a mystery series called The Rona Shively Stories. My P.I. character, Rona Shively is feisty, fearless and fabulous and is usually caught up in something she doesn’t want to be caught up in. In addition to this series, I also have a blog called Higher Ground for Life. Through this blog, I’m hoping to reach women or anyone who is seeking to develop a relationship with God and give them inspiration to get out there and follow His path for their lives!
I also have a blog called Leading the Follower. This one is my favorite. I write about religion, faith, spirituality and all that goes along with it. What we believe, what we don’t believe, what we are told to believe and how society feels about believing in general. I do a lot of testifying here and some of what I say may make you angry. Most of it will make you think. Some of it will make you cry. Any of it could make you laugh. It’s really up to you.
